Due to an unfortunate injury, Isobel MacLaurin will not be able to teach this class. Instead Grant Fuller will instruct The Art of Drawing.
Course Outline Drawing is an artist's most fundamental and useful skill. It is the point of departure for most artistic pursuits. This course will teach techniques and skills for students to take their drawing further. The instructor will help you hone the technical skills needed to draw with confidence. Exercises will include drawing and sketching basic shapes with gesture drawings. Students will create simple compositions in black and white while using the magnificent scenery surrounding Alta Lake as the subject matter.
Bio Canadian artist Grant Fuller was born in Winnipeg in 1943, but has lived in BC since 1945. He took four years of college at the Vancouver School of Art, and went to Toronto in 1965 to begin a career in commercial art. He started as a layout artist and soon was promoted to Art Director and later to Advertising Manager for Sears Fashion, he worked with the top photographers and artists in New York, Montreal and Chicago.
He then managed broadcast production through art directing both still photo, film for T.V. and video. This took him to Florida, Arizona, Puerto Rico, and California. He supervised the production of more than 300 TV and 1000 radio commercials.
In 1984 he and his wife Myrna returned home to Victoria where Grant would take up painting and teaching watercolour full time. The Fullers have recently moved to Comox, B.C., where Grant continues to paint and travel to teach workshops across the country.North Light Books has recently published his painting instruction book titled “Watercolor A to Z”. Grant’s paintings have won several jurors awards, and have been featured in magazine and newspapers at local and international levels.
