Course Outline
This workshop is intended for those who have never painted. Grant will demonstrate step-by-step the process of creating a painting while giving each student time to try this on their own. The emphasis will be on how to make basic washes and then use them to create paintings with two pigments and two brushes. Students will learn to work on wet paper to create cloud effects and distant trees, as well as how to make other convincing elements found in landscapes, such as rocks, fields, mountains, shrubs and simple buildings. Each wash will be demonstrated and students will be able to try each technique at their own pace and level.
